Visit of the Val d’Ayas
The Val d’Ayas or Ayas Valley is one of the most beautiful side valleys of the region, it is rich of historical evidences thanks to the thriving trades during Middle Ages.

This district covers numerous villages, each with its own scenery and architectural features. And where the old houses, the traditional raccards, have been wisely preserved. These buildings were once exclusively used to store cereal and were designed to prevent humidity from forming and rodents from entering.
The most known hamlets are Champoluc and Antagnod, the last one enjoys a magnificent view over the surrounding mountains.
Antagnod
Antagnod is a hamlet situated 1,710 meters above sea level, in a beautiful, panoramic position enjoys a magnificent view over the Monte Rosa massif.
To see the Parish Church of San Martino, rebuilt in 1839 on a previous construction from the end of the 15th century, has a particular bell-tower. The church has an impressive main altar built from carved wood that is painted and gilded and enriched with numerous statues, which has for some time been the most impressive Baroque altar in the valley.
The historic center of Antagnod hosts some typical structures, including the Maison Fournier where are produced the hand-made Sabots, typical wooden clogs used by the valley inhabitants all year round due to their exceptional ability to keep your feet warm and dry. A permanent exhibition of traditional handcrafts is located at the Maison Fournier, an historical building near the church of Antagnod.
Champoluc
In a picturesque landscape due to the surrounding, natural scenery, Champoluc is located in a large, sunny valley with a glacier backdrop that encloses the front of the valley. A tourist resort both in the winter and summer, this district is the most famous tourist destination in the Ayas Valley.
